Have you ever wondered which countries around the world have the highest number of tourists in one day? Those destinations where you can find huge queues when you want to visit a museum or a place at one of the restaurants near the central squares?
FiveThirtyEight analysed data collected by the World Bank to figure out which countries have the most international tourists on an average day, taking into account the country’s existing population.
Vatican City, with a population of nearly 900, ranks first, with a tourist percentage of 83.6%.Andorra, perched high in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, comes second. On a given day, the estimated number of tourists there is around 34,000 – 30 percent of the total people in the country.
Keep in mind, the ranking was done based on the percentage between the number of inhabitants and the tourists, so we look to the countries which are small in size and great as holiday destinations :).
