Remember the former Minister Maria Grapini project where we had personalities such as Ivan Patzaichin appointed as tourism ambassadors? These time the National Tourism Authority – ANT will appoint in December new ambassadors – and the fashion designer Catalin Botezatu is top of the list. During the project launched in 2013, over 20 people have received so far the title of Romanian tourism ambassadors being rewarded with diplomatic passports.
During todays opening ceremony of the autumn edition of TTR (Romania’s Tourism Fair) at Romexpo, the new president of ANT, Anca Nedea Pavel declared:
“I will resume the project launched during the mandate of Maria Grapini regarding the Romanian ambassadors for tourism. And Catalin Botezatu had constant actions until now, a life dedicated to promoting Romania outside the borders (…) By the end of the year I will have a list of proposals and I want to choose two or three ambassadors before winter Holidays. Botezatu is top of the list.”
What Catalin Botezatu has to say?
“Romania has a great potential, we should not forget that this year it is the winner of an international award by Lonely Planet, recommendation regarding Transylvania region. I believe that we must take advantage of that. We also have need for a ministry dedicated exclusivly to tourism. The travel industry opens many doors; tourism is a way to bring new investors in Romania. (…).This year it was an honor to be appointed an ambassador of the Romanian seaside and Mamaia resort. In all my TV shows I promoted every corner of Romania, every location, every hotel, every area, every region and I will continue to do so. ”
