Happiness is the best holiday accessory

Maria Magdalena ⋆ “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” office@simplifytravel.ro

How do you define a dream holiday? Seriously. What makes you say that this holiday, of all others, was fantastic? The way you felt?  The beauty of the landscapes? Experiences? Or the attitude of the locals? 2 years ago * Ipsos Global – a public opinion polling institute – released a study showing that happiness plays an important role both in the way you perceive the holidays and in the way you behave. This being said, the study showed that the happiest people leave in Latin America, North America, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Brazil and Turkey. Surprised? Surely you did not expect to find Africa on the list and Europe at the bottom of the list, eh? However only 15 out of 100 Europeans said they were happy. The survey was conducted on a sample of 18,000 people from 24 countries on all continents.

“The people of Indonesia, India and Mexico are the happiest people on the planet.”

Therefore, this year we choose a destination full of joy, were people are happy and smiles are on the menu. Here are our suggestions:

      1.  Cape Town, South Africa

It is a long flight from Romania to Cape Town but the traditions, stories and nature will fully repay you. Walk on the picturesque beaches (such as Blaauwberg),  go to the incredible botanical garden – Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and hike in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Do not miss Robben Island and the cell where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.

  1. Sydney, Australia

Sydney is love at first site for culture lovers, incurable funs of art and ardent fans of surfing. First stop: the beaches of Bondi Beach & Coogee, Sydney Harbour and the Opera House building. If you need to go for a shopping theraphy session choose Rocks district, along the street George & Pitt. You will find shops and prices for all pockets. If you climb on top of Harbour Bridge or Sydney Tower  you will get a 360 degree views over the city. Do not miss Taronga Park Zoo where you can pet the koala bears. They are ridiculously cute.

  1. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Olympic Games will take place in Rio next year, a solid reason to spend 2016 in Brazil. Catch the excitement and the frenzee on the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, enjoy the incredible view of Mount Corcovado. Forget sleep, learn the rhythm of samba and check out the restaurants, shops and local clubs. Do not miss: Sugar Loaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar)

  1. Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap is a rapidly growing city with many new hotels, restaurants and clubs for a diverse nightlife. The city is known for its spectacular surroundings and the tragic history.
