Vancouver, city of my soul

As a tourist you think you will never have enough time to see the city completely. Therefore, you move here. Let’s say for about 10 years. Enough time to see it step by step. To know the streets, the habits, the parts that will seduce you and the ones you will never forget.

The best time to visit Vancouver is at the end of August – beginning of September. Now you can catch the sky without a cloud and the ocean breeze will be the delight of your walks. After living here I can say with certainty that the city is truly blessed by God regarding the geographical location. With the Rocky Mountains at a stone’s throw and the Pacific Ocean coasts at hand, the city is less than 20 km from the most famous ski resort in North America: Whistler.

Do you love nature? Go to the downtown area with pedestrian paths and bicycle and rollers tracks. You can enjoy touring around city center, passing through the huge Stanley Park and go beyond the skyscrapers. A 14 km route that takes you to see the city and includes a stop beneath the Lions Gate Bridge – the bridge that connects North and West Vancouver neighborhoods.  The panorama of West Vancouver is magnificent, even after a rainy day. For fun try Robson Street, the ideal place for leisure and shopping: dozens of shops, restaurants and cafes waiting for you to cross their threshold.

“Voted year after year the most beautiful city in the world, Vancouver is a destination for a vacation that you’ll not forget any time soon.”

For hiking and winter sports addicts:

– In the northern part of the city, at the foot of Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver holds a famous track for hiking: The Grudge. It is a 1 hour walk through the woods rewarding you with a fantastic view of the city.

For water sports or beach lovers:

–  Welcome to the city center at English Bay! Get out of the building or hotel, cross the street and get to the beach. Pay attention! On the public beaches of the North American consuming beer, smoking or practicing topless is prohibited. So do not risk a fine. It’s better to go to the South -west district to the nudist beach where you can relax on the sand and people are no strangers to the use of a joint. Closing hours for the beach is always the exact moment when the sun disappears into the Pacific.

For entertainment, clubs and fine foods tourists:

– Check Downtown Vancouver. Being an immigrant-friendly city, in Vancouver you can try almost any cuisine you want. For diversity get a naval Taxi to Granville Island, a small island packed with art galleries, restaurants, clubs.  It’s also a great location to find a huge market with fresh fish and seafood. For the rest you are on your own, the city is at your disposal.
