When you feel your soul full of joy at the thought that you are going to visit an area full of traditions, nature and landscapes that thousands of tourists have fallen in love with, you know you have an easy task in promoting it. The first event of the campaign #MandrudeROMANIA began in Maramures, a picture perfect region where the local dialect is music to your ears and people are serene and kind.

Our invitation to the journalists was simple: come to be # TuristinMaramureş and let us show you a Romania to proud yourself with. And so, 20 journalists arrived in Maramures to better know the village’s traditions and the local artisans that make you cherish so much this region.

2 days of wandering through workshops, alongside craftsmen, with stories told while looming and the distaff is spinning. You look at the hard working hands of women in contrast with the delicacy of what they are achieving. You gaze at the simplicity of the wooden household colored by the complexity of the patterns sewn on towels and the traditional blouse – ie. Most artisans are over 65 years old. They still gather in groups to work in the evenings and continue the traditions learned from past generations. We were received by them with broad smiles and a lot of kindness. Overwhelmed by cameras and shy in giving interviews the elders invited us into their homes and shared with the world the secrets of the craft they practice. About each of them you will find out from the press, Facebook pages of the participants and from the public events that we have prepared together with the partners from Scorilo Turism for the next month.

Come in parks to see a different Romania

To be able to understand a region you need to know it, to listen to its stories, to taste the traditional cuisine. Starting April 2015, in the Herăstrău and Cişmigiu parks you will find the project #MandrudeRomania with public photography exhibitions showing you hundreds of images captured in the most surprising parts of the country. Moreover, throughout the warm season, in these two parks you will have colorful surprises and competitions that will take you in a holiday around Romania.

# TuristinMaramureş was just the beginning. We are now planning #TuristinTaraHategului, #TuristinBucovina and #TuristinOltenia. Finally I want to show you ( to those who still are not convinced) how amazing Romanian regions are when you know where to go and how to explore them. And above all that, to make you understand that #MandrudeROMANIA begins with you.
