Every year the 1 December mini – vacation turns into a busy time for Romanian, especially since we make the most out of our free days and leave the town for a well deserved trip alongside friends or family. As shown also in the latest press release of the Paravion travel agency, the Romanian tourists prefer the city-breaks abroad, in places such as Prague, Vienna and Dubai.
Now back to the more practical side of the matter -the budgets for the trips: the amounts range between 300-1000 euros /per person (including transport and accommodation for 2 or 3 nights). According to Paravion, the destinations with most bookings for December 1 are Prague, Vienna and Barcelona, tourists allocating on average 300 euro / person for this trip. For more exotic destinations such as Sri Lanka or Dubai, you’ll be out paying up to 1,000 euros / per person ( flights tickets & 5 nights accommodation). And for those who choose to leave the country – whether they want to discovered new places or to visit family and friends – a journey by plane will cost about the same time as when you drive into Romania to areas like Transylvania and Moldova.
That being said let’s take a look also to the domestic destinations that will be filled with tourists for December 1: top of the list – Mărginimea Sibiului, Sibiu and Brașov (the Christmas markets here certainly help attract tourists) the over crowded Prahova Valley and the medieval town of Sighisoara.
However, if you want to avoid traffic and the hordes of tourists I recommend that you give a run on Transfăgărășan road ( start at Curtea de Arges town- up to Vidraru dam and Capra chalet), go to Valcea region ( Horezu village and Olari Village – UNESCO Heritage site – up to Transalpina and Voineasa resort for skying) or take a visit to Targu Jiu city for Brancusi art works and the city of Hunedoara (the monastery Prislop , Hunyadi Castle and Sarmisegetuza Regia).
On the other hand if you choose to stay in Bucharest, don’t miss tomorrow’s 1 December military parade or the city center Christmas markets ( University Square – Bucharest Christmas Market). Enjoy !
