Recently the National Tourism Authority (ANT) announced that a new agreement is under way with the American company Google, which will load onto its platforms films and projects realized by ANT in order to promote tourism in Romania. Furthermore, once the project will start the online users will be able to express their views and provide information about any destination in Romania. ANT has plans to also sign similar agreements with Facebook and YouTube. So far so good.
“We had the first meeting with Google representatives. ANT will provide data, images and films that we made with European funds in order to promote Romania”s landmarks and destinations while Google will provide the platforms and programs. Our dead-line is the end of the year for the uploading of at least some of our projects and films and we expect the process to be completed by spring “said the ANT President Anca Pavel-Nedea.
Also in order to promote tourism in Romania, ANT requests the support of the diaspora which according to the officials is “one that can help generate tourists”. What is not mentioned and concerns everyone is how the diaspora will be an effective part in this plan. Still, where’s the rush? So far, promoting Romania outside the borders has been a slow painful process, with its pics during international tourism fairs. On the other hand we do not lose hope. We are convinced that Romanians that live abroad can be an effective source when it comes to promoting Romania if given the appropriate means. So we wait patiently for a coherent project especially since according to Anca Pavel-Nedea next year two more tourism offices will be opened abroad – one in Los Angeles, USA – followed by the reopening of the Barcelona office, in Spain. “The Romanian Tourism offices abroad did not reach maximum efficiency. Our target is to increase the efficiency of their work ” added Nedea. This being said we kindly ask you, the ones who compose the diaspora, to please, come with ideas and suggestions for ANT and the Tourism offices. Let’s be proactive and show them what efficiency means 🙂 .
