This week the Prime Minister Victor Ponta has appointed Anca Pavel Nedea as president of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT), also acting as secretary of state, according to the decision published Wednesday in the Official Gazette.
Anca Pavel Nedea is the former manager of the Iaki hotel in Mamaia (owned by ex- footballer Gheorghe Hagi) and Europa Hotel in Eforie Nord (owned by businessman George Copos). She is replacing Simona-Alice Man, that currently holds the position as Secretary of State with the Ministry of Agriculture. Until her official appointment this week, the ANT Vice-president Mirela Matichescu exercised the powers as President.
The National Tourism Authority is a public institution under the Ministry of Economy and coordinated by the Minister for small and medium business and tourism. The institution is responsible for implementing the national tourism development strategy, for the development of tourist products and destinations, for the privatization and post-privatization strategy in tourism; applies the development of tourism infrastructure and sustains the plans for the promotion and development of tourism on the basis of marketing plans and programs approved by the Minister for small and medium enterprises, business and tourism.
