City break to Florence, more efficient then therapy

There are trips in this life which, besides the wonderful experience of knowing other cultures and mentalities, let you live wonderful moments, change you, make you suffer or let you know the supreme happiness. Such an experience it happened to me in Florence, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is a perfect combination of art, nature, food and wines from vineyards that have made Tuscany famous. This city gives you incredible power and doesn’t let you settle for less.

Sometimes travel is the end of a story and the beginning of another, no matter how painful it may be this change. ”

So was my trip to Florence. A holiday made when trying to save my relationship with the person I loved and who had betrayed my confidence. Once you feel that something is not right, refuse to believe, accept it, wonder why it has happened to you –  then you wake up in a plane with him by your side going to Florence. The truth is that I had loved him with blind faith but now it seemed as familiar as our hostess that smiled politely. In the middle of Florence, joy and enthusiasm: Palazzo Vecchio, Galleria degli Uffizi, The Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Strozzi. As is the case with Rome, Michelangelo has left its mark, the statue of David, located in the center of the city, is famous worldwide. It’s easy to get seduced by the beauty of art and the bohemian atmosphere and forget the bitter situation.

So here I am sitting on the lawn in the garden of Castle Pitti, thinking how much my life had changed in such a short time. How the beautiful gardens contrast with my shattered heart. But it was a good feeling in there somewhere, because it is hard to be sad in Florence. This trip meant trying to repair a beautiful relationship with memories of what we once had, before the doubt transformed us into two strangers.

We went to romantic places, enjoyed a great bistecca fiorentina at the restaurant CUCO Cucina Contemporaneare (do not miss it!), drank the best wines and … realized that separation was final! No matter how I tried, I could not be as before.  Here I was on the terrace of Grand Hotel Villa Medici, in a fairytale atmosphere. An 18th century villa courtyard filled with flowers and lit by candles – it could not be more romantic. And there I looked at the man next to me and realized that we do not have the same path in life anymore. That when we are landing back home in Bucharest – nostra storia finisce – as Italians say. Arriverdeci amore!

And it happened just like that. From the airport a friend drove me home and he, after a few minutes of consternation, took a taxi and he was gone.

As for Florence it remains one of the most beautiful cities in the world, where I discovered that I cannot settle for less in life, where I saw I could smile even if overwhelmed with sorrow. But mostly I realized how lucky I am that life gives me the opportunity to live all these feelings and have the power to enjoy them. So go and visit Florence. It does miracles even when you have a broken heart.
