
Today is the day that Therme Bucharest was officially opened, setting itself as the largest wellness center in Europe based on thermal waters. It is located in Baloteşti, under 30 minutes drive from downtown Bucharest. The 50 million euro investment belongs to the Austrian group A-Heat which estimates that the center will benefit from 800,000 to 1 million visitors per year.
How much it costs you to spend a day here? The price for a day ticket per person at Therme Bucharest is 12 E for adults and 9 E for children.
If you do not want to be here all day long than the prices of tickets are starting from 39 lei/ 9 E for an adult for about 3 h and 30 min, while for a child up to 16 years you will pay 35 lei/ 8 E. An extra hour ( 4h 30 min) will cost you 44 lei / 10 E while for children up to 16 years – 30 lei / 7 E.
The center will be open the whole 12 months of the year and will have over 4,000 customers simultaneously. In addition, in March, with spring approaching, one of the outdoor pools will be opened while from April transportation will be provided between the city and the wellness center.
Therme Bucharest has:

What to expect inside Therme Bucharest?
For start the thermal waters are extracted from a depth of over 3,100 meters, ensuring a water temperature of 33 ° C for the pools, while the air temperature is between 29 and 30 ° C. The whole complex is covered with over 800,000 plants, of which 1,500 orchids and 25 species of palm trees brought from Florida (USA), Malaysia and Thailand. The “star” of Therme Bucharest is the Tree of Life (Ficus Religiosa), also called the Tree of Wisdom being 120 years old. Therme Bucharest is divided into three distinct areas: Galaxy, Palm and Elysium
According to the statements of Stelian Iacob, project manager of the project, there are 65 showers with crystalline marble, 20 slides (including seven for children) and six saunas.
- Galaxy is a family-friendly area where you will find a wave pool, 16 water slides constantly monitored, relaxation spaces and a pool bar. The total length of the 16 slides is 1.5 km, while the highest slide is 12 meters in height and allowing you to choose between 6 programs of sound and light when using it :). The prices to access Galaxy area start at 35 lei / 8 E for adults and 6 E for children over 3 years old.
- The Palm is the main area where you will find 1,200 square meters pool (the water is about 33 degrees) This place is dedicated to relaxation with loungers set among palm trees: there are 20 loungers with hydro -massage and 5 Jacuzzi. Also here you can enjoy 3 aromatherapy swimming pools (one with Dead Sea salts,a lithium and another one with magnesium and calcium), a wet sauna called “Rainforest”, a restaurant, an ice cream shop and a vitamin bar. You will be surrounded by more than 1,000 orchids. Prices to access the Palm start at 45 lei/ 10 Euro per person and also provides free access to the Galaxy area.
- Elysium is the most expensive of Therme with themed saunas, massage, relaxation areas, where children under 16 are not allowed. Of the saunas here do not miss the “Amazon” (45 degrees hot sauna) with panoramic views over the The Palm, the salt sauna “Himalaya” with blocks of salt from the Himalayas and aerosols or the “Hollywood” sauna which has a screen cinema for projecting movies. The saunas are mixed and nudism it is not allowed.
Also in the Elysium area there are a panoramic swimming pool with selenium and zinc, 3 massage studios, a lounge and relaxation area, a garden and outdoor terrace and a colonial à la carte restaurant (Asian and Mediterranean).To access Elysium you will pay 68 lei / 15 E per person with free access to the Galaxy and The Palm areas.

Therme Bucharest is the biggest complex of this kind in Europe, being a greenfield built on an area of 250,000 square meters, with a relaxation area of over 30,000 square meters and a capacity of 4,000 people simultaneously. The thermal waters are extracted from a depth of over 3,100 meters. The facade is self-supporting, the metal structure supporting its 1,100 tons weight, being the largest of its kind in Romania. The retractable roof is a transparent colossus weighing 230 tons, the biggest roof ever built in a seismic zone. The complex can resist a 9 degrees magnitude earthquake.
