My beautiful Romania

If you could have all the time in the world to wander Romania as you wish, in which of its counties would you stop? Here are three of the most beautiful places in the country to start your travel appetite:

  1. Letea Forest – 2.825 ha. Located in the north part of the Delta, east of the village Rosetti, Letea is a protected area since 1930 formed on the flat strips of land – “hasmacuri” – the spaces between the sand dunes. Until the point where the cars stop for you to play on the dunes, you will encounter wild horses and amazing changes in the landscape. In the Letea forest live some 500 species of plants and 3,000 species of animals which means that over 70% of the animal species in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (DDBR) are concentrated here. Letea is considered by the experts as one of the most interesting natural environments in Romania.
  2. Babele and the Sphinx – natural monuments located in Bucegi Mountains. If you do not say – ohhh – when arriving on site then search and read about the local legends, about Baba Dochia transformation into stone and about this being the holy place of the god Zamolxe. To arrive here you can take the car on Transbucegi road and then walk for a while or take the cable lift. Proposed route: Sinaia (800 m) – Chalet Poiana Stânei (1.270 m) – Chalet Piatra Arsa (1.950m) – Chalet Babele (2.200 m) – peak Omu (2.505 m) –  Mălăieşti Valley- Electrical Plant Rasnov (815 m) – Rasnov (675 m ).
  3. Mija Lake – Parang Mountains. It is located at an altitude of 1,975 m looked over by peak Sliva. With a length of 120 meters and a maximum width of 100 meters covers an area of 0.80 ha. The lake is behind a high glacial dam and surrounding by a landscape that takes you away from the world and everyday life. The proposed route: Parang Tourist Complex – Lake Mija. Duration: 1h 30 min – 1h 45min. Markings: red tape, then yellow dot
