The illustrations on texts by the french Romanian artist Tristan Tzara and Jean Cocteau will be shown for 3 month to all art lovers in the art exhibition ”QUE VIVA PICASSO”, curated by the German private collector Thomas EMMERLING.

Castelul_Cantacuzino_02“The 120 graphics by Picasso are brought here due to our desire to establish an introduction of Picasso graphical works in Romania, a country that had strong ties with the artistic environment where he performed during his life, but somehow still remained at a distance. We want to break this illusion of distance, the printed etching, engraving and litograph being the perfect tools for achieving our goal, bringing him much closer to the public. Picasso is one of the most renowned genius artists of the 20th century, a symbol for vitality and creativity” declared Mr. Thomas Emmerling one of the two initiators of the project.

As an important step in the calendar of the event, a series of wooden replica sculptures after the works of Picasso, will be installed in the town of Bușteni, as part of the project through which the CEO of the company that owns the castle – Mr. Kurt NEUSCHITZER – wants to contribute to the cultural growth of the community. During the time of the exhibition, the sculptures will be visible in the Valea Prahovei while other artistic surprises will follow, such us real size bull statues that will be placed in various locations. The Castle image and its environment will be changing with each specific exhibition.

The newly renovated historical setting of Cantacuzino Castle has managed to establish itself as a strong cultural center in only a short period of time, showing art works of young emergent Romanian artists as well as established ones. The current exhibition is part of a series of ground breaking cultural events that aims to have strong impact on the public during the year 2015. The previous Salvador Dali exhibition received more than 27 000 visitors (both local and foreign visitors) while the well known Prahova Classic Nights presented by the Mezzosoprana Margarita Mamsirova are held together with opera singers from the Moscow Bolshoi Theater and famous Romanian musicians.
