Less than two weeks ago Paris seemed to be the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. Following the recent terrorist attacks the world is suddenly more cautious and reticent. Cancellations of flights to Paris were registered these days, for departures regarding the month of November and December. Bookings of hotels and travel packages also dropped close to zero, although tour operators in France are now offering cheaper prices, 25% below the normal fees.The psychological impact is being felt globally directly touching the travel & leisure sector.
What do you do in this situation?
1. Think pragmatic. You have no reason to cancel your trip. In addition, to encourage tourists to return to the French capital, hoteliers have reduced tariffs by 50% during this period. Save money and have extra shopping budget. In addition, costs for a Christmas package to Paris now start at 396 euros per person ( the offer includes flight ticket and three nights accommodation) while for a New Year holiday (flight included and 5 nights accommodation) the price starts from 640 Euros per person.
2. Pay attention to the information released by air operators. The airlines are now accepting period of flight /time or name changes for free regarding tickets purchased no matter how restrictive were at first the conditions for the issued tickets.
If you bought a flight ticket issued by TAROM (with at least a segment to or from Paris) from November 14 to 22, 2015, you can postpone the trip while the value of the unused flight tickets will be transformed into a credit, allowing you to further purchase tickets on TAROM destinations.
Air France also provides options to change for free the reservations for those traveling with a valid ticket issued on or before November 14, 2015 on flights (from 17 to 22 November 2015) to Paris or another city in France, regardless of the acquisition fare.
3. Ckeck out the safety measures taken by the authorities. With police forces everywhere now Paris is a destination safer than ever. That does not mean that all these measures will cause you delays. Even with the extended safty controls at the airport or around the tourist attractions, you will still have no problem enjoying the city.
