About how to eat healthy you can read everywhere. I know quite well the theory, practicing what I preach is harder. This is exactly what happens when, facing a delicious platter, I forget my reason. Now, do not imagine that I eat everything, but sometimes I cannot help myself. Something similar happened when I visited Mioriţa restaurant, inside the hotel Horizon, at Predeal. After a day out in the snow, I crashed into the wooden seat of the restaurant.
At our table the atmosphere was noisy. We were all tired but not lacking the enthusiasm. As it was 21.30 hours, we were also hungry. Now comes the good part. When you first try a new place and do not know what to order, it helps to be an invited guest. Furthermore – if you are in an official delegation, things get … tasty as possible. One by one, the meal courses prepared for us start to emerge. Next to me was Costin Staicu from e-Restaurant.ro. Laughing and joking, we all expect his expert opinion on the food. Until he decides what he likes, we were all over each other trying to taste theme all: rind, zucchini baked in garlic, stuffed mushrooms, fried fish, vegetable patties, eggplant salad and bean paste, etc. Everything looked and smelled so good that we couldn’t stay put.
Half an hour later the waiters announces smiling the main course. What ?? Nooo thank you! I will just skip the dishes stuffed with pork, chicken and veal, the 10 kinds of appetizer served before had me pinned to the chair. I will serve directly the dessert – a glass of traditional afinată (a cranberry alcoholic drink absolutely delicious!) and a portion of dumplings. There goes my strict diet and eating by the book. I will just live it for another day. For the moment I am a conscious sinner but then again, sin is always sweet. My colleges are indulging on steak and the huge bowls of pickles. The plates came with a hot polenta pot – and pay attention – cut with a thread, as my grandmother used to do. Perfect!
What I recommend you when arriving here:
- Try the homemade zacusca and Miorița jams
- Ask for homemade sour cherry or blueberry alcoholic drink
- Take a tour of the winery, you will not regret
