The week when London meets Japan

Weekend days have past so very quickly but not before going to one of the most exciting events of this month. Taking place outside London’s QEII Centre, ‘Presenting Japan’ brought to London  artists, craftspeople, chefs and technology genies in one coherent presentation of the country’s best characteristics.

As expected, innovations and creativity define this wonderful country and visitors (as it is a free entrance policy) can look forward to live painting performances, judo workshops, cooking lessons and demonstrations of cutting-edge technology. Everything wrapped up in the sweet, seductive taste of sake, green tea and Japanese food that you can sample on the spot. And trust me, you will deeply regretted if you OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERApass on such opportunity.

I managed to be present this Saturday (day 1, dedicated to Cultural Food), escaping the rainy afternoon and hiding inside a different universe, where perfection is always on demand. Just like the demonstration made by Hiromori Uchida on the art of sweets.

As Japanese cuisine has gained World Heritage status, the techniques employed in chopping & maintaining the freshness of ingredients conquer the world. The profound Japanese philosophy of living and their approach to food materials is very different from the Western way, making Japan one of the most fascinating destinations in the world. In short, see the photos below for a better illustration of how the day went.

For further details I invite you to also visit their official site.
